The GCG Houses are made up of four important and influential figures in both Greek mythology:
Hercules
Athena
Apollo
Artemis
It is these four figures that altogether symbolize wisdom, courage, strength, skill, and truth - qualities that are important to possess throughout The Games.
The GCGs are held annually at a world class sporting facility at Bill Crothers SS at 44 Main St Unionville, Unionville, ON.
The GCGs encourages all kids aged 8-14 on the date of that years Games to participate as an athlete. As well, all individuals aged 15 and above on the date of that years Games are welcomed to participate as a volunteer.
The Greek Canadian Games does a random allocation of athletes into the houses to promote fairness and the best chance to meet new friends.
The GCGs are made possible by its athletes, parents, and sponsors. Any involvement in this capacity would be greatly appreciated and we welcome all parents to partake in all the weekend festivities!
Typically, the Games are kicked off in grand fashion with a blessing of the Games, athlete oath, introduction of its ambassadors and most importantly a thunderous cheer off between the Houses of that year!
The Closing ceremony consists of announcing medal winners and the prestigious House Cup! In addition, we recognize an act of kindness and love to finish with loads of Greek Dancing!
Sponsorship fees go towards subsidizing athlete registration, equipment, media, venue and t-shirt costs for both athletes and volunteers, coverage for volunteers lunches. Additionally sponsorship goes towards maintenance of website fees, video and social medial coverage for the Games.
Anyone can become a GCG sponsor!
